Commission happy with its GM food regulations for Europe

THE European Commission has confirmed its full confidence in its existing regulatory framework on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).

Sources in Brussels declared it one of the strictest legislative packages in the world, providing for a high level of scientific assessment, while safeguarding the consumers’ right to choose.

The Commission says it will continue to comply fully with its legal obligations, and will proceed with the approval of pending authorisations as appropriate.
