ICA ladies make a song and dance of it in Grenagh
The event was hosted by the Grenagh ICA; there was singing in Irish, rinncí seit, agus falla luimní.
Gene Harrington accompanied the singers for the first hour. Fionnuala Ní Chonnaill led the singing, while other members, such as Nora Twomey, sang the old favourites.
Dermot Ring, of the Donal Ring Ceilí Band, and his family, performed for the remainder of the evening.
During one of the intervals, a brilliant display of dancing was given by Alice Twomey, Kelly and Laura O’Connor, and Grainne O’Connor. The president of the Grenagh guild, Marian Twomey, supervised the dancing.
A Mrs Dolan, one of the founder members of the guild, entertained the audience with a performance of Micheal Mor and City Sue; a great lady.
The audience was also made up of members of other guilds, and members of The Cork Federation committee.
Tea was served by the Grenagh guild. All present said they enjoyed the evening, and were looking forward to the next Trathnona Gaeilge.
