Potato ring rot testing

THE first phase of a sampling and testing programme in Britain following the recent potato ring rot outbreak has been completed.

This involved those stocks in cold store at the farm in Herefordshire from which the infected potatoes were supplied.

Two out of the 12 stocks tested for ring rot were positive, both of the variety Sante, associated with seed potatoes supplied from the Netherlands for planting in 2003.
