Epsom Derby 1-2 boosts Coolmore

A STALLION housed at Coolmore Stud in Co Tipperary will double its earnings next year, to at least €10 million, racing industry sources predict after favourable results for Coolmore in last weekend’s Epsom and French Derbies.

In the two minutes and 35.69 seconds duration of the Epsom Derby, the rise in the value of Montjeu, one of Coolmore’s Irish based sires, came to millions and millions of euros, according to Rachel Pagones, bloodstock writer in the authoritative Racing Post newspaper.

The nine year old stallion sired the Epsom winner, the unbeaten Motivator, and runner-up, Walk In The Park.
