Nightmare smells anger residents

LOCAL residents in the Waterford road area of Clonmel are still enduring unpleasant smells on a daily basis possibly coming from the wastewater treatment plant or the Ronan tannery across the river Suir.

Local resident George Mordaunt claimed that living with this nuisance on a daily basis is turning into a nightmare. Mr Mordaunt, who both lives and works in the area, added that “the smell is absolutely stifling to the point that it is the same as having a slurry tank open and inside in your house”.

Despite the severity of the problem, however, he said that it is impossible to get anybody on the phone.

“It is impossible to get somebody to return your phone call and then there is never a definitive answer only that there is a study been carried out and that the results will be available soon”, he said.
