Bids rising for desirable Brothersfort farm

THE Ferguson family of Brothersfort Farm at Bandon, Co Cork are set for a cheery Christmas, as bids for their land reach €3.6 million, and the guide price of €4 million comes within range, according to auctioneer, Paddy Murray, who’s having a run of good sales at the moment.

The 142 acres of prime land at Kilpatrick was launched on the market in September, and while it was slow to get going, there has been a flurry of bids this month.

Most of those came from farmers with money from development land sales or CPOs. And with land recently hitting €4 million at Springfort, Belgooly, the bar has been raised for large holdings in south west Cork.
