Call to boost EU access

ADEQUATE transport and shipping to ensure the speedy export of Irish agricultural produce to the enlarged European market is crucial, a farmers’ leader said yesterday.

Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers Association president Malcolm Thompson raised the issue when welcoming a call by Agriculture and Food Minister Joe Walsh for Ireland to identify and optimise all areas of advantage and market opportunities.

Mr Thompson, speaking in Donegal, said it was important for Ireland to have easy access to Europe.
