The Department of Agriculture and Food has reported significant improvement in brucellosis eradication since 1998, when 114 herds were restricted in Co Cork.

In six years, the number of laboratory positive animals has fallen from 1,467 to 75, and the number of new annual outbreaks has fallen from 181 to 50 in Co Cork.
