10 Teagasc offices added to closure list
The offices are at Farranlea Road, in Cork city; Tullow, Co Carlow; Mullinavat, Co Kilkenny; Gorey, Co Wexford; Wicklow town; Bailieborough, Co Cavan; Loughrea, Co Galway; Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim, Boyle, Co Roscommon; and Corduff, Co Dublin.
Teagasc management has also been instructed to identify some smaller, leased offices which should be considered for closure.
Teagasc will still have more than 70 advisory and training centres, nine major research centres and 11 colleges.
In February, the Teagasc Authority decided to sell its Head Office in Dublin, its soft fruit research centre at Clonroche, Wexford and the facility at Lullymore, Co Kildare.
Also for sale are the dairy farm at Ballinamore, Co Leitrim, and the sheep research unit at Knockbeg, Carlow is to close.
The possibility of selling land surplus to requirements at Kinsealy in Dublin will be investigated.
The organic farming demonstration and research units are to stay at Mellows College, Athenry.
