MORE than 80% of the suppliers to Arrabawn Co-op plan to increase their milk production over the next two years.

There was a response rate of 50% to a survey questionnaire sent to the co-op's milk suppliers, who farm from the former Nenagh and Mid West Co-op areas in the south, into East Limerick and north as far as Roscommon.

The survey findings show that half of the farmers' spouses are employed outside the farm, and off-farm income represents one third of the total household income, an average.
