Farmers left waiting on list of growers

THE IFA yesterday accused the Department of Agriculture and Food of having failed to provide value for money to the potato sector following the introduction of seed certification charges.

Potato Committee chairman William Monagle said potato farmers are still waiting on the department to issue the 2006 list of certified seed potato growers.

“This list should have been released to the industry late last year, in order to allow farmers to book their seed for the forthcoming planting season.
