Restrictions on SBP payments

PURCHASERS of cattle with a special beef premium (SBP) to claim before the end of the year will not be paid premium and extensification on animals over the 1.8 LU/ha limit.

If there is an SBP overshoot compared to national quota, case deductions will be imposed on producers with over 25 animals for combined first and second stage premia.

Applications must reach the SBP Unit in Portlaoise on or before December 31. Animals not eligible until late December can be applied on in advance, by asking to have the application processed on the first working day after an animal becomes eligible. Applications can be made up to January 25, but incur a penalty of 1% per working day after December 31.

There is a limit of 180 animals for combined total of first stage and bull premium and 180 on the second age category.
