Poultry firm worth €19m to economy

A poultry processing industry in Limerick is contributing €19 million a year to the local economy.

Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan praised Castlemahon Food Products during a pre-Christmas visit to the company’s plant.

It employs 260 people full-time and another 100 over Christmas.

The company also has 80 farmers involved in broiler breeding and in rearing chickens and turkeys on their farms and supports other services out-sourced locally.
