THE dairy industry can look forward to a new recipe for success, when a study commissioned by Agriculture and Food Minister Joe Walsh, is published, hopefully before the New Year.

“The study will look at how industry level performance might be improved and the actions necessary to stimulate that ,” said the Minister at the Teagasc Dairy Conference.

Findings on processing structure are likely to be of most interest. “Rationalisation of the dairy processing sector is a necessity rather than a luxury,” said the Minister. He said the competitive strength and capability of processors impacts directly on farmer incomes.
