Department seeks decentralisation site

A progress report on site locations for Department of Agriculture and Food offices under the Government’s decentralisation programme was given in the Dáil by Farm Minister Mary Coughlan.

The department’s headquarters in Dublin will be transferred to Portlaoise. Laboratories in Cork and Limerick will move to Macroom and local offices in Cork city and Mallow will transfer to Fermoy.

Ms Coughlan told Labour Party leader Pat Rabbitte her department is working closely with the Office of Public Works to have a suitable permanent HQ built in Portlaoise.
