Big attendance, high prices at auction for four lots
John Stokes of Stokes and Quirke brought a farm straddling two townlands, Kilroe and Kilcoran, to the market in four lots, and sold everything on the day. A big attendance which necessitated moving the auction to larger premises indicated the level of interest in the property.
A local farmer shelled out €420,000 for a 43-acre parcel of land with only right of way access. (According to the selling agent, ‘The man that grazed it, wanted it’).
