Wanted: 170 acre farm for a Cork city developer

THERE was such a big crowd last week in Mallow’s Hibernian Hotel that auctioneer Dan Fleming had to move to a bigger venue.

In front of the large attendance, bidding for the 33-acre holding at Farran North, Burnfort, Mourneabbey, Co Cork was brisk.

The very attractive riverside land was guide priced at €175,000, but bidding started at €250,000, and it was bid up to €550,000, when it was knocked down to cattle haulier Thomas O’Callaghan.
