Food Island awards launched
Bord Bia, in association with AIB and Food and Drink Industry Ireland, is organising the Ireland the Food Island awards, which will recognise success and promote excellence in the industry.
Category awards for innovation, brand marketing, trailblazer, food and drink entrepreneur, corporate and social responsibility and small business will be presented.
Bord Bia chief executive Aidan Cotter said Irish food and drink companies have been very successful in identifying and winning new business in export markets.
Rosemary Garth, Director of Food and Drink Industry Ireland, said that the fundamental challenges facing the sector include continuing cost pressures, changing consumer demand, trade liberalisation and increased competition.
Fidelma Griffin, Head of Food and Agriculture, AIB Corporate Banking Ireland, said the agriculture, food and drinks sector is an extremely important component of the bank’s business in Ireland.
All Irish food and drink companies are eligible to apply for the awards.

The awards will be presented at a gala dinner in the Mansion House, Dublin, on May 20. The industry has nominated Self Help and Focus Ireland to benefit from the proceeds.
