Live animal crib opens in Dublin

A live animal crib provided by the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) and Dublin City Council has opened in the forecourt of the Mansion House in the centre of the capital.

Dublin Lord Mayor Cllr Catherine Byrne and IFA Farm Family chairwoman Mary McGreal officially opened the crib, which has raised over €110,000 for the Lord Mayor’s charity fund over the past decade.

The Live Crib consists of a traditional nativity scene set among live animals in a life-size stable. The animals are brought to the crib every morning and are returned to a farm near Dublin each evening.
