Cattle sales trend alert

INTENSIVE dairy farmers will have no option but to sell off yearlings and bullocks before they become a viable livestock unit, in order to adhere to new Nitrates Directive stocking rate limits, according to Seán Scully, vice-chairman of the Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association.

He said this will distort normal cattle marketing patterns and price trends.
