Tasty boost for farmers’ markets

Carlow: Small scale food producers and farmers’ markets got a significant boost at the national ploughing championships at Grangeford, Tullow, Co Carlow.

Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Eamon O Cuiv launched a LEADER Small Food Business Co-ordinator Work Plan 2004-2005.

Earlier this year he granted funding of €50,000 to Comhar LEADER na hÉireann to employ a co-ordinator to work with groups.

Isobel Fletcher took up the post in June and said she aimed to research support available to the sector and to develop proposals regarding a support package for small food businesses.
