THE 208 complaints relating to the Department of Agriculture and Food received by the Ombudsman's Office in 2003 were only a small fraction of the 3,173 valid complaints handled by the office in 2003.

"As Ombudsman, I feel a great sense of responsibility towards those who feel they have been treated unfairly and who make a complaint to my Office," said Emily O'Reilly, the current holder of the office, in her annual report.
