Many so-called revolutionaries are cruel, ignorant and opportunistic men. They don’t have the heart and wit to do something creative with their lives. How much easier is it to tear down the hard work of others or shout some slogan to bolster their egos!

What Mr Dignam (Letters Irish Examiner, February 9) from the Oireachtas Head of Communications, chose not to mention in his defence of the Oireachtas gravy train, is that the Oireachtas doesn’t publish one receipt to verify that any of the expenses paid to members are reflective of genuine expenses incurred.

Cork City Council opened a new play area just last year in Fitzgerald Park at a cost of €600,000. Remarkably however, following recent rains, the new play area was flooded, not once but twice, and access was denied for several weeks.
