As a member of Fota Island Golf club I found the recent article on the sale of a city land bank on behalf of Nama very disturbing.

Following the meeting of the board of RTÉ with Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte on the libelling of Father Kevin Reynolds in the Mission to Prey programme, it has emerged that no resignations from the board were sought or offered.

Mark Mulqueen, Head of Communications at the Houses of the Oireachtas (May 9) chooses not to mention that, while TDs and senators are paid a travel allowance based on the distance between their home and Leinster House, there is no rule stopping a TD or senator from randomly choosing the further distance possible as their designated home, in order to claim the maximum possible expenses that they can.

I disagree with Gerard Howlin’s bleak conclusion that ‘we’ are all to blame for the collapse in the credibility of our ‘once towering institutions ... but we won’t admit our complicity in the delusion’ [May 10].
