Over 20 years on, Davy Fitzgerald still wants to win everything as badly as ever, writes Anthony Daly

I was driving home from an underage coaching day in Kilmacud Crokes in Dublin last Saturday when a friend texted me. “Some Walsh Cup final in Nowlan Park,” he said. “It sounds like an epic.”

When we won the All-Ireland with Clare in 1995, the league back then began in October, which wasn’t good for the head, and especially the body, writes Anthony Daly. 

The memories came flooding back to me in Thurles yesterday from all angles. It was almost 20 years to the day since we, Clarecastle, won our only Munster title in 1997. We had beaten Ballygunner in the semi-final. There was a Limerick team in the final again yesterday, just like there had been when we met Patrickswell.

I’ve said this numerous times already in relation to Limerick but they need to be patient now, writes Anthony Daly.
