For anyone who spends long hours at a desk, a motorised standing desk can be a real upgrade. Unlike traditional fixed-height desks, models like the FlexiSpot E7 Plus promote healthier working habits by reducing sitting time, improving posture, and providing flexibility for different users.

Design and build

What sets the E7 Plus apart from most standing desks is its four-legged design. While many competing desks rely on two legs, this desk spreads its weight evenly across four contact points, resulting in exceptional stability, even with heavy equipment on top. I tested it with dual monitors, a desktop PC, and several accessories, and it never wobbled or leaned. I even tested its strength by sitting on it while it moved, not exactly the recommended use case, but it didn’t skip a beat.

The frame is constructed from high-strength carbon steel and feels as if it’s built to last decades, not years. With a maximum load capacity of 200kg, it comfortably holds far more than the average workstation setup. The desk height can be adjusted between 66cm and 131cm, making it suitable for a wide range of users and tasks. Taller users, in particular, will appreciate this extra headroom, as many standing desks max out below 120cm.

FlexiSpot also includes TÜV Rheinland certification, and the E7 Plus is rated for more than 30,000 lift cycles. In practice, this means you can raise and lower the desk multiple times a day for years without concern. The 10-year warranty is reassuring and reflects the company’s confidence in its engineering.

Installation and setup

Assembly took me just over an hour, helped by the clear instructions. Having built other FlexiSpot standing desks before, I was a little quicker this time. While I managed it solo, the legs are heavy, so it’s definitely a job that’s easier (and safer) with a second pair of hands.

The frame expands to fit desktops from 120cm to 200cm long and 70cm to 90cm wide, so that it can accommodate everything from compact home setups to wide executive workstations. I opted for a 120 x 80cm top, which is plenty big but small enough for tight spaces.

Cable management is always a challenge with adjustable desks, but the E7 Plus makes things easier. The three-in-one power cable integrates the rear motor, front motor, and control panel neatly, reducing clutter under the desk. FlexiSpot also leaves enough clearance along the edges of the desktop to add accessories such as drawers, monitor arms, or cable trays. Unlike the E7 Pro, the E7 Plus doesn’t come with a cable tray or magnetic cover. Instead, it includes cable management sticky pads to help keep those unruly cables tidy.

Features

The E7 Plus offers an impressive height adjustment range, which makes it ideal for a variety of uses. To make using this even easier, FlexiSpot includes a multifunction keypad that allows precise digital height control with four memory presets, perfect for switching between sitting and standing with a single button press.

The built-in height display is clear, and I found the memory presets invaluable when swapping between working positions.

There’s also a USB-C charging port integrated into the keypad, which came in handy for powering small devices like my wireless earphones. The motor is impressively quiet, even when under load, and adjustments are smooth and vibration-free.

The adaptability of the frame means it works with a wide range of desktop sizes and accessories, allowing you to tailor the workstation to your needs. This makes it equally suitable for home offices, shared workspaces, or even less traditional environments such as dining rooms or creative studios.

Performance

In everyday use, I found the E7 Plus proved reliable and consistent. Height transitions are quick at a maximum speed of 25mm per second, and the motors never felt strained, even when I piled on extra weight to test the 200kg load claim.

What impressed me most was its rock-solid stability. Even at full height, I could lean against the desk without noticeable flex or wobble. For anyone who uses large monitors, drawing tablets, or heavy peripherals, this stability is a huge advantage.

The wide adjustment range also made it comfortable to use, whether I was seated in a lower chair for relaxed tasks or standing upright for focused work. My posture felt better after extended sessions, and I noticed less fatigue compared to long stretches at a sitting desk.

The motor hums softly but never distracts, even in a quiet home office environment. In fact, I often adjusted the desk during calls without colleagues noticing.

Verdict

The FlexiSpot E7 Plus offers exceptionally stable, heavy-duty performance that caters for power users and anyone who needs a workstation capable of supporting serious weight without compromise. It’s not the cheapest, but the four-leg design, quiet dual motors, and broad height range make it one of the most reliable standing desks I’ve used.
