Apple launches 'more affordable' iPhone 16e 

The Apple iPhone 16e is available for pre-order from Friday.

Apple has unveiled a new budget iPhone, the iPhone 16e, which includes its new AI tools and latest processor in what it says is a "more affordable" handset.

The iPhone 16e will go on sale at the end of the month, the tech giant confirmed, priced €240 less than its current cheapest iPhone 16 device, which was released in September, and retails at €979.  Pre-orders begin Friday, February 21, with availability beginning Friday, February 28.
