Tribit StormBox Blast 2: A portable party powerhouse

The Tribit StormBox Blast 2 is a powerful 200W portable speaker that delivers loud, distortion-free sound with deep bass from its 80W subwoofer and dual mid-range drivers. It's ideal for parties, outdoor events, and large spaces. While heavy, it excels in durability, sound quality, and performance, making it an excellent choice for music lovers and adventurers seeking powerful, immersive audio on the go.

The StormBox Blast 2 is a chunky, robust speaker built to party. At 6.95kg, it’s not lightweight, but the integrated handle makes it portable enough for outdoor adventures or home use. Its IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating means it shrugged off splashes and even a brief stint in the rain during testing, living up to its rugged reputation.
The large transportable speaker sports dynamic LEDs, which are customisable via the Tribit app, pulse and glow to the beat of your music. You can turn the lights off if you’re not into the light show.

This speaker packs a serious punch, with a total output of 200W. It is driven by an 80W subwoofer, dual 45W mid-range drivers, and two 15W tweeters. The sound is bold and dynamic, with bass that hits hard without overwhelming the midrange or treble.
Including Tribit’s X3D sound mode creates a virtual 3D surround sound that expands the soundstage. While I’m not a fan of this mode for most music, it works well for classical and live music.
While the sound quality is excellent, cranking up the volume revealed a slight distortion at its maximum — a minor quibble considering the speaker's sheer power.

Although it doesn’t come with mics, the karaoke function was a hit during testing. I used a wired dynamic mic, and it worked great. The speaker supports dual wired or wireless microphones with adjustable reverb and volume levels. Whether solo or duet, this feature makes this speaker more than just a music player.
Tribit promises up to 30 hours of playtime, and it lived up to the claim during testing at moderate volume. However, cranking up the power or using the light show drains the battery faster. The speaker also doubles as a power bank, which is handy for keeping phones charged outdoors.

Equipped with Bluetooth 5.4, the StormBox Blast 2 provided a seamless connection throughout my tests. Pairing was quick, and signal dropouts were non-existent, even at a distance of over 10 metres. The TWS (True Wireless Stereo) capability allows pairing with another StormBox Blast 2, though I couldn’t test this feature firsthand.
No product is perfect, and the StormBox Blast 2 has its quirks. Its size and weight might challenge those seeking a truly portable option. Additionally, while the customisable lighting is fun, it may feel gimmicky for users who prioritise sound over visuals.
The Tribit StormBox Blast 2 is a powerful, feature-rich party speaker that excels in sound quality, durability, and versatility. It's designed to impress, from immersive audio to karaoke capabilities and vibrant lighting. While it’s not the lightest or cheapest option, its performance and feature set make it worth considering.
