'Single unnamed user updating settings' caused widespread website outages on Tuesday, firm says

The firm responsible for a widespread outage which made prominent websites including gov.uk inaccessible for almost an hour on Tuesday has apologised for the disruption.

US-based Fastly said the issue occurred because of an “undiscovered software bug” in its system.
