Twitter updates service with anti-abuse tools

Twitter has announced the introduction of new tools for the social network designed to protect users from online abuse, as noted in a blog post from the company.

To combat abusive behaviour, Twitter will now:

  • Identify users permanently suspended from Twitter for abuse and prevent them from creating new accounts
  • Introduce a ‘safe search’ feature which removes blocked and muted accounts plus potentially sensitive content from search results
  • Identify and collapse potentially abusive or low-quality Tweets and instead focus on relevant conversations

Twitter has repeatedly come under fire in recent months for not doing enough to protect its users from cyberbullying.
