VIDEO Behind the story of Doctor Strange with Benedict Cumberbatch

Doctor Strange is that comic book movie you keep kind of forgetting about.

With no obvious ties to the rest of the Marvel-verse and a rather muted publicity campaign, you would be forgiven for thinking it's debuting some time next year. In fact the Irish release is just five weeks away, and with a cast including Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton there's plenty to get excited about.

The bit we're most interested in right now is the overwhelming spectacle of the thing, dealing with other dimsensions and powers that are very different to what we've seen in the big screen Marvel world so far. This is pretty much the realm of magic, with a little Matrix and Inception thrown in for good measure.

That spectacle feeds into the story, and you can hear how the tale comes together with Cumberbatch, Swinton and more in this video.

It's an oddly serious piece given the subject matter and that's something which has been true of most of what we've seen so far. Given the talented folks involved we're sure the full film will have a more varied tone but Disney and Marvel could do with giving this one a bit of a kick into high gear as the release date approaches.
