The iPhone 7 is here- everything you need to know

In a move which surprise absolutely no one, Apple announced the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus last night at a glitzy event.
The iPhone 7 is here- everything you need to know

Here's the run down on the iPhone 7 and it's bigger brother the iPhone 7 Plus:

In terms of changes you'll find a new Black and Jet Black colour (apparently it's all about Black this season) and the cameras look different, not to mention the fact that the Plus has two image sensors.

We'll have to wait for reviews to find out just how life changing those cameras are but the wider aperture of f1.8 will certainly make a difference to those low light moments, together with optical image stabilisation.

The starting storage size is now 32 gigs for each model, which is a welcome and necessary change for the company. As with the previous generation, you'll find a 4.7 inch screen on the 7 and a 5.5 inch screen on the 7 Plus. Both are now extra bright with a bevy of colours.

There's a new home button too which... isn't a button. Instead it's something like a touch sensitive pad which doesn't actually depress. We're going to go ahead and assume that's going to take a little getting used to.

And yes it comes without a headphone jack, instead sporting a lighting connector at the bottom of the phone. The good news is that Apple will be including lighting enabled headphones (or EarPods, whatever) in the box, as well as a dongle to convert lighting to 3.5mm. Your old phones will work, but you have to try not to lose the connector.

There's water resistance too, and before anyone asks that does not mean these new phones are waterproof. Rain is no problem and even an accidental dunk might be ok, just don't go swimming.

A bunch of other things happened too, and this pretty aggressive video will get you up to speed.

Pricing for the 7 starts at €779 with the 7 Plus starting at €919. It seems you can pre order from the 9th of September but the models are currently unavailable on the Irish site. We'll update with the local release date when we have it.
