Google Translate now supports 103 languages
Google Translate already offered an amazing service to millions of people online but it's just added a further 13 languages to bring its total roster up above 100 for the first time. The new additions include: Amharic, Corsican, Frisian, Kyrgyz , Hawaiian, Kurdish/Kurmanji, Luxembourgish, Samoan, Scots Gaelic, Shona, Sindhi, Pashto and Xhosa.
With these languages Google now says it covers 99 pecent of the entire online population, which is a pretty amazing feat when you consider the sheer number of different forms of communication around the world. It actually adds the new content in an interesting way, using machine learning to analyse existing translations from one known language into a new unknown one. From there, and with the help of official content and the Translate community, the required data is added and refined to produce another new entry into the mix.
