Mad Max Fury Road will be back in Black and White
Mad Max director George Miller has been chatting about Fury Road again and once more has brought up the Black and White version. The filmmaker claims this is the ultimate way to see the film, with all the colour drained and nothing but the score to support the images of destruction and desolation.
This cut was apparently completed at the behest of the director many months ago and rumoured to be appearing on the first home video release. That didn't some to pass, and apparently it was because there wasn't enough space on the disk for an entirely different cut. That's a fair point - this isn't a branching version with a couple of extra scenes but a completely different vision. Now Warner bros could have just thrown in an extra disk - but then they couldn't release it again for more money making.
Miller was chatting to the LA Times and said that this other cut of the film will be seeing the light of day in another release, which will also include a commentary from the filmmaker. Now the blu ray that's already out there has about 90 minutes of extras, including some deleted scenes, and no commentary so there's obviously been an intention to bring out a 'shiny and chrome' edition in the future. And we'll probably buy it...
