Google Nexus phones for 2016 could come from HTC

The Google Nexus phone brand isn't going anywhere soon, with two major handsets released in 2015 to some decent reviews.

Reports are suggesting that the tech giants will be sticking with the two phone lineup for 2016 and they'll be moving to a new manufacturer. Google has always partnered with other companies to produce their Nexus handsets, with Huawei and LG getting in on the action last year to create the Nexus 6P and 5X respectively. We're hearing that they won't be back this year, with both new smartphones instead coming from HTC.

HTC and Google have worked together on tech before, with the Google Nexus 9 tablet and the original Nexus One back in 2010. The report says that two further phones will release in 2016, one with a 5 inch display and other a 5.5 inch panel.

That's bound to be good news for HTC, which has seen its smartphone sector falling in popularity over the last few years. Their market share has fallen as low as 2 percent, despite the recent launch of the popular HTC One brand. Google has yet to officially announce plans for their new Nexus phones but expect more news later in the year.
