Smaller iPhone could be coming soon

iPhone and Apple rumours pretty much never stop, with every launch heralded by many months of idle speculation and the odd informed guesswork.

Smaller iPhone could be coming soon

The latest comes from GHI Securities' Ming-Chi Kuo, who is an expert in all things Apple, and it sounds pretty interesting. He says that the company is working on a new model of the iPhone, this time with a 4 inch screen.

The information comes from his own research into the trends of Apple and where they want to be in the market in 2016 and beyond. A 4 inch model is far from unusual, it was the screen size of their flagship phones just a couple of generations back. In this case, we're expecting a model with the same fast processor as the recent 6S as well as a metal body for more of a premium feel.

The key point of the new phone will be to present a lower price point to customers, something which hasn't often been a priority for Apple and the handset could launch in the first quarter of 2016. That would be a big change for the company with three screen sizes on the market and a different release strategy, let's see if the rumour pans out.
