Fitbit bands automatically track exercise
The Charge HR and Surge fitness trackers now features SmartTrack, which automatically knows when you start exercising. The new tech is even smart enough to know what kind of exercise you've started, with the ability to identify running, walking, biking, certain classes (like Zumba) and sports. The important data is all synced back to your Fitbit app on your smartphone or desktop, and you don't have to worry about fiddling with menus before you get moving.
PurePulse has been updated as well and should provide better heart-rate monitoring during high intensity sessions. That will provide better information for making sure you're exercising in the most optimal way possible.
A new feature for the apps on iOS and Android is Exercise Goals which lets you set weekly targets and updates you on progress daily. That's perfect for those who are in a training regime or even folks who just want to trim off some extra weight in the new year.
Exercise Goals comes to all Fitbit app users from today, SmartTrack is on the Charge HR and Surge units.
