Huawei to focus on premium smartphone offerings

Huawei is to focus on the premium smartphone market and gradually withdraw from the low-end segment.

Huawei to focus on premium smartphone offerings

CEO of Huawei, Richard Yu, said that the company is set to focus on the CNY2,000-3,000 ($315-$470) segment. Huawei’s low-end smartphones (retailing for less than CNY2,000/$315) will instead be sold under the Honor brand.

Yu predicted, according to C114.net, that a large number of mobile phone vendors will disappear over the next few years and only a few will survive. This focus, it hopes, will ensure its survival if this prediction does come to pass.
