Ridley Scott reveals the name of the Prometheus sequel
Anyway, there's been a lot of chatter recently about the proposed sequel to the film, including a suggestion by director Ridley Scott that there could be a further three movies which would eventually link into the timeline of the original Alien from 1979.
Well Scott is out doing press for his new movie The Martian and it seems like he knows exactly what the next film in the franchise will be called - Alien: Paradise Lost.
He just casually throws it out there to the folks at HeyUGuys.
And right after he suggests that maybe Stefan Pape probably hasn't read Paradise Lost, which is oddly condescending. But then who has actually read the epically epic poem by John Milton? Probably no one ever, since it was published in 1667 and runs for about 10 years. The basic outline has to do with Satan and the other fallen angels doing their thing, then popping out to bring sin to the newly minted Adam and Eve.
There's a lot of other stuff going on in there as well, but after the title of Prometheus (who stole fire from the gods in Greek mythology), it's reasonable to assume Scott is talking about the Adam and Eve element, the innocent species brought low by a sinful act, like maybe creating a race of barely killable xenomorphs who rampage around the universe?
This is all speculation but the remaining characters from Prometheus were on their way to the planet of the Engineers and I'm totally guessing that maybe things didn't work out too well for those really tall guys.
Scott is just done with The Martian and has a habit of getting onto new projects very quickly, with a May 2017 release date for Alien: Paradise Lost already mooted. Bring it on.
