iOS 9 already on a third of Apple devices

The new operating system only launched last Thursday and reports are now suggesting that over 21 percent had the update within the first 48 hours. That's a massive uptake very early on, suggesting users were eager to get their hands on the latest features straight from Apple. After five days, it's over 35 percent.

As a comparison, the latest Android version Lollipop has managed a takeup of 21 percent in the 10 months since its release. The two aren't exactly equal - mainly because of the range of different devices which Android comes on versus the carefully controlled ecosystem of Apple.

iOS 9 brings some sweeping changes to compatible Apple devices including better built in apps, enhanced Note functionality, more info in Maps and a better way to be productive on the iPad. Siri is smarter than ever, and integrates herself into your life better than before. Battery life improvements and better responsiveness are also promised.

The iOS 9 update is compatible with the iPhone 4s and more recent models.
