Jurassic World director rumoured to take charge of Star Wars: Episode IX
Lucasfilm may not have plans to show a new trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens at its San Diego Comic Con panel, but it may have an announcement to make. It’s rumoured that Jurassic World director, Colin Trevorrow, will be tasked with directing Star Wars: Episode IX.
The news comes courtesy of Heroic Hollywood, but should be taken with a dash of salt; the site doesn’t point to any particular sources, but simply promises that fans will be hearing a lot more about this story.
Lucasfilm could certainly do worse. Jurassic World has been a hit with audiences, grossing $1.4 billion and breaking box office records.
J.J Abrams directed the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, while Rian Johnson was officially attached to Episode VIII. Question marks have remained over who will sit in the director’s chair to close out the trilogy. But that mystery may be put to rest during Lucasfilm’s Comic Con panel later today.
