See the first ever footage from the new X-Files series

The X-Files is back, with a new event series airing in January 2016. And Fox is celebrating the return of the show with a pretty amazing run of the entire series from now until the new year.

That's 202 episodes, with one every day until the 24th of January 2016. That's a pretty amazing thing for fans and newcomers alike, and a great way to remind people what they really liked about the show. In a promo for this revival, they're also showing off the first new footage of the X-Files with a glimpse at Mulder and Scully as they look now.

It seems Gillian Anderson wants some answers. And after 22 years she kind of deserves some. The six new episodes will tell the continuing story of the search for the truth, with an overarching story as well as a 'monster of the week' format. That sounds pretty good, and there are plenty of other familar faces involved including Mitch Pileggi, William B Davis and creator Chris Carter behind the camera.

With the success of major TV shows these days its probably a great time to bring The X-Files back to TV, and it's certainly a better strategy than another poorly put together movie sequel. Let's just hope the new episodes are up to scratch.

The X-Files is back on Fox on the 24th of January 2015.
