Casio will release first smartwatch next year

Casio is working on a smartwatch, which it is preparing to release by the end of March 2016.

Sources told The Wall Street Journal that Casio’s smartwatch will be more affordable than those of other established watch manufacturers. They say that the smartwatch “"won't break easily, is simple to put on and feels good to wear."

Casio’s device will have a bigger focus on telling the time than many other smartwatches.

But the watch manufacturer is still calling the device smart, so there must be some more functionality and features.

Little else is known about Casio’s smartwatch. It’s unclear what devices it will be compatible with, what OS it will run, or even what features it will have.

While the Casio smartwatch is likely to be more affordable than other watch manufacturers’ watches, it will probably be more expensive than the average Android Wear smartwatch. Sources suggest that it will cost approximately $400.
