Future iPhones won't have a physical home button

The circular home button has been a defining characteristic of the iPhone since its launch. But Apple hopes to do away with it, according to reports.

Future iPhones won't have a physical home button

Apple’s future iPhones, according to DigiTimes, could have “ultra-thin and ultra-narrow displays.” The report doesn’t specifically mention that the home button will be embedded into the display itself, but it refers to a “whole plane design.”

Apple is developing touch and display driver integration (TDDI) single-chip solutions for its iPhones. These solutions will also come with integrated fingerprint sensors. So while future iPhones may lack the physical home button, it looks like they’ll retain Touch ID.
