The sequel to the sim racer will add “loose surface racing” on dirt, gravel, mud, and snow. There will be eight new disciplines, including Rallycross, Hillclimbs, and Touge. And Project Cars 2 will feature a range of new cars, including never-before-seen Concepts and Banned Race Cars.

Another new feature will be the co-op career. Players will be able to take on the role of the Teammate Driver, Spotter, Driver Swap, or Co-Pilot.

There are five support tiers available, ranging from the bronze tier (£50), which gets you access to the game up to the diamond tier (£10,000), which comes with a huge number of perks including an in-game race team named after you and a range of merchandise.

The timing of this announcement could have been better. The original Project Cars was released last month and while its successor will be a few years off, some fans aren’t taking kindly to being asked for money so soon.

Slightly Mad Studios says that it still has a number of "on demand" updates scheduled throughout the year.
