Nest now has a high tech connected security camera

Nest already has a thermostat which learns your habits and can be controlled from afar. Now its getting into the security business.

The company has just revealed the Nest Cam. It's a home monitoring device which is fully set up for 1080p video with a 130 degree field of vision. It records at 30 frames per second and is good for night vision up to 20 feet.

It comes with a stand that's sturdy and has a magnet attachment for easy positioning and a tripod mount option. And it's fully connected, which means you can just set the Nest Cam up and stream video straight to your mobile or tablet. In addition, Nest Aware is a subsciption based cloud service which will store your footage for later viewing.

So place the camera and you can check on your home with your handset, simply and easily. You can even set it up so that when something happens in a certain part of the field of view an alert will sound.

And the Nest cam works with the rest of the companies lineup - like turning on when the Nest Protect senses smoke in the area so you can get a look at what's happening to your home.

The Nest Cam is set for release by the end of June 2015.
