Andy Serkis' Star Wars mo-cap character revealed - but does he fight for the light or the dark?
He's playing a character called Supreme Leader Snoke. Given the less than subtle naming conventions of the Star Wars universe, we're going to go ahead and assume he's some sort of baddie, on the side of what remains of the Empire in this time 30 years after the demise of the second Death Star. The info comes from a fascinating exclusive interview with famed photographer Annie Leibovitz over at Starwars.com where she talks not only about going on set of The Force Awakens for some typically insightful portraits but also her entire history with the Star Wars franchise. It's well worth a read for fans of this galaxy far, far away as she's been taking photos on the productions since The Empire Strikes Back and has some amazing stories to tell. Her portrait of Andy Serkis also has some more information to reveal because he's covered in motion tracking dots.It seems the actor will once again be bringing a CG character to life, as he has done many times before - famously as Gollum in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Ring trilogy. He has also played King Kong and Caesar in the Planet of the Apes films. He's an amazing mo-cap performer, and we can't wait to see what he brings to life in the world of Star Wars.
