Watch a chimp take down a drone

Sometimes the best way to get up close and personal with wildlife is through the use of drones. But animals are proving to be just as fond of these mobile paparazzi as some celebrities.

Watch a chimp take down a drone

Filmmakers of a show about the Royal Burgers’ Zoo in the Netherlands wanted to record some aerial footage of the chimps in their wooded enclosure. After managing to get some video, the drone got a little too close for its own good. One of the chimps took up the perfect vantage point and knocked the drone out of the sky using a stick.Once the drone hit the ground, the entire clan descended upon it. And they made sure that it would never fly again. The attached GoPro, however, did manage to survive the ordeal. This isn’t the first time that flying drones have run into difficulties with wildlife. Hawks have crashed into themas they would small birds, and dogs have been chasing them around parks. Drone operators may have to be more careful about where they fly their drones…and how close they get to wild, yet intelligent, animals.
