Exclusive Interview with Will Ferrell Anchorman 2
WF: There was a definite moment where i think we initially kind of sat there and said we're up for doing a sequel. And the studio was shocked and excited. But their excitment was not reflected in the budget level they offered us. And we're like hats insane! And we're just rying to articulate that everyone was at a different place in their career han when we made he first one and you're literallyonly offering us $10million more than the first one was made for and its 9 years later! So we were life 'Oh, Iguess thats how it's going to be!'.WF: Yea. I think i think thee was a real felling like a super rock group was getting back together. I'm not going to say the beatles, thats an obvious one! But maybe something along the lne of the Foreigner! (laughter). Solid. Some people call that's what it was like - this feels like Foreigner is getting back together!WF: It's very genuine and alot of excitment we were in austailia for a premiere and close to 3000 people showed up. They had to book out 11 cinemas the thing i find most interesting is after 9 years of talking to he media and being asked again and again if we'll do a sequel - now the media ae saying ' are you worried?' Now are you worried?! You're eh guy who have been asking us and now you're saying...... that's not fair!WF: Yea there's a much stronger story. Which was fun. I think once we choose 1980 and the start of 24 hour news, you kind of had to explore that. and it was a great opportunity for Ron and these guys to be the forefathers of it of it. It's fun to see Ron basically mess up jounalism for everyone! There was a definite moment where i think we initially kind of sat there and said we're up for doing a sequel. And the studio was shocked and excited.
