More than €1.1bn extra was spent using credit and debit cards in December 2025, with the €11.2bn total value of card spending in Ireland in the month up 11% on the previous year.

More than €1.1bn extra was spent using credit and debit cards in December 2025, with the €11.2bn total value of card spending in Ireland in the month up 11% on the previous year.

Card spending was up €1.27bn (12.8%) from November 2025. The number of transactions made was up 9.58% to 266.44m month on month.
